It's like a very fast sound card with the speaker and microphone replaced by an antenna.
Hackrf one sdr software#
Just as a sound card in a computer digitizes audio waveforms, a software radio peripheral digitizes radio waveforms. It is similar to the software-based digital audio techniques that became popular a couple of decades ago. SDR is the application of Digital Signal Processing to radio waveforms. A Software Defined Radio is essentially a radio communication device that implements the use of software instead of the typically implemented hardware (these would include mixers, amps, and modulators for example). If you are wondering what a SDR actually is, it's OK we can help. Designed to enable test and development of modern and next generation radio technologies, HackRF One is an open source hardware platform that can be used as a USB peripheral or programmed for stand-alone operation.

Mine is about 1.5 years old now with recent firmware installed.Īnyway I setup HDSDR initially to use 9,000,000 hz. Although the HackRF has advertised a low range of 30 MHz or my experience has been that it works just fine down as far as 3.5 MHz in it's stock config.
Hackrf one sdr install#
Which is a total pain in the butt for CW over the coarse of a day.Īfter swapping out the EXTIO for RTL in my HDSDR install I fired it up with HackRF. Even with all that 'stability' the TCXO RTL drifts all the time. I've been using a TCXO based Nooelec RTL and an OCXO upconverter I built myself. I use the 9 MHz IF OUTPUT from my Yaesu FTDX-5000 as the input source to whatever SDR I'm using to feed HDSDR. Which in my experience shows weak CW signals up very well! It allows the ability to get HDSDR's "Resolution Bandwidth" down to 7.6 hz when MSPS is 2. This is useful for weak-signal stuff I most do. He did that and posted the new release in just about 1-2 hours. I contacted the author and asked him to add some smaller sample rates of 4 and 2 MSPS. I've been searching for an EXTIO DLL for the HackRF One that will work with HDSDR for years now.įinally came across this today! AND BONUS! IT WORKS!
